A Demorest man died from injuries sustained in a roughly 20-foot fall Wednesday, according to authorities.

Michael Alan Dawson, 43, was working Wednesday on a roof on a site near Clarkesville First United Methodist Church in Clarkesville. The Clarkesville Fire Department was dispatched around 11:17 a.m. to the Washington Street address on a report of a man falling “from approximately 20 feet,” Clarkesville Fire Chief Jason Poole said.

He was transported by Habersham EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and died from injuries sustained in the fall around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire.
