A Buford man took the stand in his own defense Tuesday, saying he did not want to shoot the man allegedly stalking his wife “if I don’t have to.” Geoffrey Mack is accused of shooting Cornelio Lazarescue in the jaw and ankle, and he is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and reckless conduct. Chief Assistant District Attorney Wanda Vance rested the state’s case earlier Tuesday before defense attorney Clinton Teston brought a slate of witnesses in Superior Court Judge Bonnie Oliver’s courtroom.
