Center Point Names Bruner as its new clinical director

Center Point, a nonprofit agency providing a wide range of support and treatment services for local youth and families, has named Dr. Marshall Bruner as its clinical director.

A Gainesville native, Bruner will oversee counseling and related services for Center Point, which is located in Gainesville. Bruner holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a special emphasis on working with children, adolescents and families on issues such as anger management, depression, grief, parenting, social skills and conflict resolution.

Bruner also has served six North Georgia churches as an ordained United Methodist minister.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Marshall’s clinical and pastoral background,” said David Smith, executive director of Center Point. “His unique perspective allows for a balanced approach to working with families and promoting their healing and wellbeing,”

Rushton names Campbell as firm administrator

Rushton, one of Northeast Georgia’s largest business accounting and consulting firms, has named Cindy Campbell as its new firm administrator.

Campbell, a certified public accountant, formerly served with Dawson County government in the positions of county manager and chief financial officer.

An accounting graduate of North Georgia College, Campbell has previously held accounting positions with other accounting firms, as well as in private industry. She holds Leadership and Supervision Master Certification from the University of North Georgia, as well as Level I and Level II Government Finance Officer certification from the Carl Vinson Institute for Government at the University of Georgia.

Gainesville investment firm celebrates 20 years

JT Stratford, a Gainesville-based investment advisory firm, celebrated its 20-year anniversary in November.  

In honor of the anniversary, the employees of JT Stratford donated to Dress for Success Atlanta, Inc. through the Georgia Gives Day campaign.

“The community has given much to us,” said Amanda S. Bruner, operations manager for JT Stratford. “The least we could do is return the favor.”

JT Stratford employs 15 professionals in three offices throughout Georgia and North Carolina, and it manages five equity and fixed-income portfolios for institutional and individual investors.

Attorney Smith takes part in Leadership Academy

Rustin L. Smith of Stewart Melvin & Frost LLP in Gainesville recently joined other attorneys from around the state for Session 1 of the 2016 Leadership Academy of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.

Becoming a Leader in the Bar and YLD took place Jan. 8-9 during the midyear meeting of the State Bar at Lake Lanier Islands. Leadership Academy members earned continuing legal education credit for the session.

Participants took part in team-building activities and were recognized by the Board of Governors of the State Bar.

Founded in 2006, the YLD Leadership Academy is a program for young lawyers who are interested in developing their leadership skills, as well as learning more about their profession, their communities and their state. The Leadership Academy counts more than 400 alumni.
