A section of Capitola Farm Road, a key South Hall traffic artery, will be closed starting Tuesday for stormwater work.
The project, expected to last 90 days, will involve adding two culverts and raising part of the road, essentially to “address stormwater impacts and required permitting,” said John McHenry, Flowery Branch’s community development director.
Newland Communities, developer of the 1,000-acre Sterling on the Lake subdivision, is doing the work between Lake Sterling Boulevard and Lemon Grass Lane.
“Through the permitting process for additional neighborhood development within Sterling on the Lake, two extensive stormwater studies were required,” according to a Newland statement.
“These studies determined that the existing culvert under Capitola Farm Road is not adequate and that additional structures, as well as raising the road elevation of this section of Capitola Farm Road, are required in order to meet city, county and state standards.”
Both of the Sterling entrances off Capitola Farm Road will remain open throughout construction, the statement says.
Also, as part of the work, lakes next to Capitola Farm Road are “being drained and will remain drained until work is complete.”
Capitola Farm Road also serves as a cut-through for traffic between also-busy Spout Springs and Hog Mountain roads.
