Wood to head marketing efforts for Smith-Bell Petroleum

Morgan Cody Wood recently joined Smith-Bell Petroleum, 441 E.E. Butler Parkway in Gainesville, as director of marketing.

A native of Cornelia, Wood received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia. She furthered her education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master of Public Health, where she was a Dean's List member and a Presidential Scholar.

Most recently, Wood was employed with the PGA of America. At Smith-Bell, she will oversee the company's Shell, BP, Gulf and Pacific Pride customers.

Wood is married to Trey Wood of Gainesville.

Dawson native Smith named vice president at Verity Bank

Adam Smith has been named vice president of Winder-based Verity Bank.

"Mr. Smith handles various commercial loan requests and has been on the Verity Bank team since it's opening in 2008," said Bronson Lavender, senior lender and EVP of Verity Bank. "Mr. Smith is a very skillful banker that believes in serving his customers, which is the foundation of our organization. Given his work ethic, commercial banking experience and strong community ties, his promotion to vice president is the well deserved next step in his banking career."

Smith is a native of Dawson County and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1998. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration degree from North Georgia College & State University in 2002. Currently he is attending the Georgia Banking School at the UGA Center for Continuing Education in Athens and is scheduled to graduate in May of 2013.

"I am extremely pleased to be a part of such a sound and successful community bank," Smith said. "I look forward to providing a responsible lending resource for the communities that I serve."

Smith and his wife, Kimberly, have two children.
