Gainesville man shot in back near Desota Street, police looking for information

A 20-year-old Gainesville man was shot in the back while in a car the 1100 block of Desota Street, police said.

Gainesville Police responded to the shooting at 8 p.m. on Sunday. 

They determined three suspects fired multiple shots at the victim and fled in an unknown vehicle. They were described as black males in black hoodies. 

The victim received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back while sitting as a passenger in the car. He was driven to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Two parked vehicles were also struck by gunfire. No other injuries were reported.

Cpl. Jessica Van said the department is seeking the public’s help with any information relating to the incident. Those with additional information are encouraged to contact Investigator Brad Raper at 770-535-3783.
