A Gainesville man is accused of touching an underage girl at a Browns Bridge Road home, according to authorities.

Jose Hernandez Jr., 28, was arrested at his workplace Wednesday, Feb. 26 and charged with child molestation.

The Division of Family and Children Services’ Hall County office gave information to Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators Jan. 6.

“According to the preliminary investigation, Hernandez touched and fondled the victim’s chest and genitals underneath her clothing at a residence off of Ga. 369/Browns Bridge Road near Gainesville,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in an email.

Booth said the girl was under the age of 16, and the incident happened between February and March 2017. Hernandez and the girl were previously acquainted, Booth said.

The case is still under investigation.

Hernandez was released on a $16,700 bond the day after his arrest.

“The allegations are patently false. Mr. Hernandez looks forward to his day in court so that he may clear his name,” defense attorney Blake Poole said in a statement.
