A package containing 1,200 pills from Thailand was seized Tuesday in Jefferson through a controlled delivery by local and federal authorities.

James Everett Robbins, 53, of Jefferson, was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule IV drug with the intent to distribute and possession of dangerous drugs.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received information of a large quantity of narcotics being mailed to a Jefferson residence, according to a news release.

The narcotic involved was not specified, and the Sheriff’s Office did not return a call after 5 p.m. Wednesday for comment.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Postal Service aided the Sheriff’s Office in seizing the package “shipped from a location in Thailand,” according to a news release.

“A quantity of over 1,200 pills were seized from Robbins’ possession,” Sheriff Janis Mangum wrote in a news release.

Robbins was booked in to the Jackson County Jail.
