The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Run is scheduled Wednesday to zoom through Flowery Branch.

The route, which began Sunday in Indianapolis, Ind., will take more than 500 motorcyclists down Interstate 985, where they will turn off at Exit 12 between 3-4 p.m. The route will turn right onto Spout Springs Road, then left onto Atlanta Highway.

This will take the riders to the Buford American Legion post.

This is the first time the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Run has come to Georgia.

The scholarship ensures children of parents who died during active-duty service on or after the events of Sept. 11, 2001, achieve their dream of attending college.

The riders will ultimately complete the run in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday.

The American Legion asks bystanders to cheer and display other signs of support as the motorcyclists drive past.
