Fiddleheads in finals for "America’s Got Talent!" competition

The Fiddleheads, a musical group rooted in bluegrass comprised of North Georgia College & State Univeristy students and alumni, has made it to the finals of NBC’s "America’s Got Talent!"

The group performed in the Las Vegas auditions in an episode that aired July 5 and now proceeds to Los Angeles for the next round. The group is competing for a $1 million grand prize.

The Fiddleheads include Adam Kersh, lead vocals; Trygve Myers, bass; Michael Wallace, guitar; Zak McConnell, mandolin; and Jake Larios, banjo.

McConnell is an NGCSU graduate, Wallace and Larios will graduate from North Georgia this year, Myers is a junior at North Georgia, and Kersh previously attended North Georgia.

The group recently blogged about its L.A. experience on the show’s website.

"We’re writing to you all within the confines of our lovely little hotel room(s) here in what we believe to be Beverly Hills. Thus far, our trip to Hollywood Land has been nothing short of amazing, and we’re all extremely humbled and blessed to be here and a part of what is surely one of the most memorable times of our lives.

"Coming from such a small and placid town like Dahlonega, L.A. seems like another new world in and of itself, something so immense and spectacular that it would take a lifetime to take it all in. ... Thank you all so much for you love and support. We’re very blessed and fortunate to have such an amazing fan base. Stay fiddly my friends."

The competition will be broadcast live at 9 tonight on NBC, WXIA Atlanta.

After the broadcast, the public can vote for their favorite acts. Check gainesvilletimes.com for channel listings.
