Four students from Johnson High School Bands were selected as members of the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Ninth District Honor Band.
Hundreds of students from Northeast Georgia auditioned and a select few were chosen based on musicianship and technique. During a “blind” audition, students played prepared technical passages and a piece of music. They also were challenged to learn a new piece of music silently in 30 seconds.
JHS students earning the honor were James Butcher, David Cazares, Jacob Frier and Joshua Martinez.
While inclement weather canceled the honor clinic from occurring, the four students will be featured at the JHS Bands’ Spring Concert at 7 p.m. May 13 in the school’s Performing Arts Center.
