Steven and Janis Swit of Atlanta announce the engagement of their daughter Staci Maris Swit to Jacob Walther Brinson, son of George and Carolyn Brinson of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mitzi Swit of Atlanta and the late Jack Swit and Evelyn Neuerman of Cincinnati and the late Irving Neuerman.

She is a 1999 graduate of Walton High School in Marietta. She graduated in 2003 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and sociology. She received a doctorate of jurisprudence at the University of Georgia School of Law in 2006. She is employed as a staff attorney with Judge Mary Staley of Cobb County Superior Court in Marietta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Peggy Cathey of Gainesville and the late Bob Cathey and Paul and Margaret Brinson of Gainesville.

He is a 1998 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2003 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He received a certification in prosthetics with Northwestern Prosthetics & Orthotics in Chicago in 2005. He is employed as a prosthetist with Procare Prosthetic Care Inc. in Suwanee.

The couple plans to wed Oct. 4, 2008, at the Beachview Club Hotel on Jekyll Island.
