Mr. James and Mrs. Beverly Page of Lincolnton, N.C., announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Laura Abigail Page to Mr. Phillip James Martin, son of Dr. Mike and Mrs. Abby Martin of Oakwood.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Helen Campbell and the late Mr. Joe Campbell of Denver, N.C., and the late Mr. George Page and Mrs. Vassie Page of Lincolnton, N.C.

She is a 2003 graduate of Lincolnton High School in Lincolnton. She graduated in 2010 from Furman University with a bachelor's degree in communication studies.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Dr. Lee Martin and the late Mrs. Beverly Martin and the late Mr. Jim Barfield and the late Mrs. Ann Barfield of Gainesville.

He is a 2005 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. He graduated in 2009 from Furman University with a bachelor's degree in Asian studies. He is employed as a communication specialist by Gray Construction in Lexington, Ky.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 22, 2011, in Lincolnton.
