Gene and Sandra Byrd of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Brittany Amber Byrd to Alexander Steven Crowe, son of Mike and Sheri Crowe of Sugar Hill.

She is a 2007 graduate of Chestatee High School in Gainesville. She is pursuing a degree in biochemistry at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville. She is employed as a laboratory technician with Panduit Corp. in Cumming.

He is a 2004 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Sugar Hill. He attended Rhinehardt University in Waleska majoring in biology education. He is employed as a fireman with the Gwinnett County Fire Services in Norcross.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 9, 2011, at Jim Walter's Barn in Lula.
