Terry Brock of Lilburn announces the engagement of his daughter Kimberly Janelle Brock to John Charles Thompson, son of Nancy and John C. Thompson Jr. of Gainesville. The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Leigh Brock.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Bobbie Corley of Canton, the late Rayburn Brock, Polly McCrum of Jasper and the late Art McCrum.

She is a 1992 graduate of Parkview High School in Lilburn. She graduated in 1997 from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville with a bachelor's degree in special education. She received a master's degree from Walden University in Minneapolis in reading and literacy. She is employed as a special education teacher with the Gwinnett County School System.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Alfred C. and Ruby Adams and John C. and Anne J. Thompson.

He is a 1990 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 1995 from North Georgia State College & University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in education. He is pursuing a master's degree in administration from the University of Georgia in Athens. He is employed as a head football coach with the Gwinnett County School System. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Georgia Athletic Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association.

The couple plan to wed May 30, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
