They used to call them hanger dances back in the day, but whether they're swinging in a Quonset hut or at the local YMCA, it's sure to be a ball.

Sue Adams of the Georgia Mountains YMCA advisory board has organized the inaugural My Y Swings at 7:30 Saturday night in the hopes of bringing the community out for a good cause and great entertainment.

The 18-piece band "Modern Aires" will be providing music for dancers and dance instructors will be giving lessons in samba, salsa, fox trot, cha cha and even Zumba for those with higher energy.

Even if you are a wallflower said Adams, there will be something for everyone.

"The main goal is to get people out to support the programs at the YMCA and the children that benefit from those programs," said Adams.

Refreshments will be provided thanks to donations from Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A, and other community businesses gave door prizes Adams said.

The event is for all ages and the attire is dressy casual. But if you want to wear your tux and cocktail dress, Adams said, by all means. Tickets are $25 and can be bought at the Y front desk or by calling 770-344-9345.
