"Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" When: 7 p.m. Friday Where: Holly Theater, 69 West Main St., Dahlonega How much: Free Contact: 706-864-3759
Apparently, some things in life — like select movie screenings at The Holly Theater — really are free. At 7 p.m. Friday, the theater at 69 West Main St. in Dahlonega will host a free showing of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." If you are unfamiliar with the film, the story focuses on an unusual contest, sponsored by an eccentric candy maker named Willy Wonka. Children who find a golden ticket in a package of his candy are invited to tour Wonka’s factory. Originally, the children thought they would be receiving a lifetime supply of chocolate, but in the end they discover that the prize is even better than expected. After the movie, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the Holly Theater Performance Academy’s "Willy Wonka" cast. The academy is the theater’s training program for young performers ages 3 to 18. The group of young thespians will present their musical at the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta in January and the Holly in February.
