Instead of preparing a huge holiday meal and cleaning up the mess afterward, Lanier Islands is offering a stress-free Thanksgiving.

The Southern lakeside resort and its culinary team will prepare a buffet-style Thanksgiving meal with all of the trimmings from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, at 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford.

“We invite our guests to skip the hours of cooking and cleaning that’s often associated with Thanksgiving and make the scenic drive over the Lanier Islands’ bridge to let us take care of everything,” said Grier Todd, vice president of hospitality for Lanier Islands. “Our talented chefs will prepare a cornucopia of holiday classics paired with a few feats of culinary creativity.”

The Thanksgiving menu will feature herb-roasted turkey, slow-roasted angus prime rib and mustard and peppercorn ham at the carving stations. Others selections include made-to-order salads, seared scallops and pan-seared breast of Muscovy duck and more. To supplement the main course, guests can add brown butter mashed potatoes, maple sweet potato soufflé, brioche pan dressing with savory vegetables or Brussel sprouts with apples and sweet onions.

Lanier Islands also will have a kids table, a dessert station and full bar of adult beverages, such as bloody marys and mimosas.

The Thanksgiving buffet costs $49.95 per adult, $44.95 per senior, $29.95 per child 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 770-945-8787.

For those who wish to combine an overnight stay, the 2016 Thanksgiving Celebration Package is available for Thursday, Nov. 24, at a starting rate of $299. The package includes:

  • Overnight stay in a newly renovated room at Legacy Lodge
  • Full Thanksgiving dinner for two adults
  • Full breakfast for two the following morning
  • Two free tickets to Game Day (beach seating) for Thanksgiving day football
  • Two free tickets to Winter Adventure
