Holiday Fest is Oct. 23-24; Zombie 5K next weekend in Braselton
An array of antiques will litter the lanes of Braselton as the city celebrates its Antique and Holiday Fest this weekend in Jackson County.

Braselton will be the “it” place to be as a hugely popular festival and zombie race lay claim to the area on two consecutive weekends.

First up is the Braselton Antique and Holiday Fest.

More than 100 vendors from across Northeast Georgia will attempt to sell their wares at the event this week. Activities will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. All events will take place at Braselton Park near Harrison and Frances streets.

One week later, runners of all ages may join the “Braselton Zombie 5K” run Saturday, Oct. 31. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. at Braselton Brothers Department Store building on Davis Street in the historic downtown.

Runners may register at or before the race at 8 a.m. Oct. 31. Registration is $30.

“Zombie costumes and full makeup are encouraged and expected!” said Clay Eubanks, vice chair of the Braselton Downtown Development Authority. “Our local hair salon, Artistic Expressions, is offering to do special zombie makeup by appointment that morning.  We will be awarding a special medal for the best zombie runner. And we are expecting our course condition to be littered by zombies.”
