Locally grown foods from area farmers, live and silent auctions and outdoor entertainment are set to provide a pleasurable outdoor evening at Elachee Nature Science Center.
The center’s annual spring benefit, “Flights of Fancy,” will be from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, May 1, on the outdoor patio.
Now in its 15th year, “Flights” is adding some new twists to the affair to make the familiar a fresh new experience for guests who have attended before and an exciting introduction for those who have not.
The theme is “Eat Local. Drink local. Shop Local.” To that end, area farms and local food purveyors are providing various products for the meal. And Gainesville’s own Tap It will provide a selection of craft beers. Wines will be on hand for sipping, too.
Guests also may nosh on an array of appetizers while perusing items available in the popular silent and live auctions. Auctions offer an array of unique garden and nature-oriented art and other items for the home, porch, patio or outdoor entertaining spot.
Tickets for bistro tables and open seating are $50 per person and may be purchased online by calling 770-535-1976.
Proceeds benefit Elachee’s environmental education programs for students and families as well as our conservation efforts. Elachee Nature Science Center is one of the premier environmental education centers in Georgia serving more than 42,000 students and an additional 30,000 visitors to the museum and preserve each year.
