Blue Ridge Rounders to play at Contra Dance
0120CONTRA1
The Blue Ridge Rounders will perform at Saturday's Sautee Community Contra Dance.

Saturday's Sautee Community Contra Dance will featured the Blue Ridge Rounders of South Carolina.

The band has been a Sautee favorite for years. Their music combines a bluegrass edge and traditional mountain sound in a hard-driving, fun-loving style. They have played the "King Pup Radio Show," taken the blue ribbon at many festivals and competitions, opened for big name bluegrass musicians such as Ralph Stanley and Sam Bush, and played numerous shows and dances up and down the East Coast.

A potluck supper is set for 6:30 p.m, followed by a lesson for newcomers at 7:30 p.m. and the main dance from 8 to 11 p.m. at the historic gym of the Sautee Nacoochee Center, 283 Ga. 255 N, Sautee Nacoochee.

Everyone is welcome; no experience or partner is necessary and the dances are easy to learn.

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for Sautee Nacoochee Community Association members, $4 for students, children ages 7 and younger free with a supervising adult.

The dance draws participation from many local residents as well as those from Atlanta, Athens, Gainesville and Dahlonega. Janet Shepherd will be calling.
