The Hall County Farmers Market was covered up Tuesday morning with vendors and customers.
It makes me hungry just to see the red, juicy tomatoes (there are also yellow, green, pink and even orange tomatoes — more than 20 varieties), green beans (at least seven varieties) and nearly a dozen varieties of squash and even figs.
When you come to the market you have lots of choices and variety.
If you are trying to get your family to eat more fruits and vegetables, this is the place to shop. You also will find peppers, eggplant, potatoes, onions, garlic, collards and turnips, corn, okra, peas, cucumbers and beets.
Fruits include watermelons, cantaloupes, muscadines and scuppernongs. These fruits are some of the best desserts and snacks you can offer your family with little preparation and loads of flavor.
You can also purchase honey, organic breads, fresh ground corn meal, rye flour and whole-wheat flower, cut flowers, potted plants and firewood. Coming soon in the next month will be pumpkins, gourds and black walnuts.
The Hall County Farmers Market is open 6 a.m. to sellout Tuesdays and 7 a.m. to noon or until sellout Saturdays. It is at the corner of East Crescent Drive and Jesse Jewell Parkway near Interstate 985 at exit 24.
Also check out a new location and time, from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays downtown on the Gainesville square.
