West Hall graduate Juan Arbelaez, who played soccer at Virginia Commonwealth University the past two seasons, was drafted Tuesday by the Montreal Impact in the third round of the Major League Soccer supplemental draft. Arbelaez, a 5-foot-8, 145 pound midfielder, was The Times’ All-Area Player of the Year as a senior in 2009 and finished his high school career with 51 goals and 70 assists while leading the Spartans to a state finals appearance. “That’s big news for us,” West Hall athletic director Scott Justus said Wednesday, soon after receiving the news.
