Brenau swim team captures conference title

The Brenau University Swim Team captured the Appalachian Swimming Conference title Saturday night in Christiansburg, Va.

Brenau totaled 560 points, ahead of runner-up Wheeling Jesuit with 467.

In Saturday’s events, Courtney Hayward won the 1,650 freestyle with teammate Ella Kleinschmidt fourth.
Lindsay Dowling won the 200 backstroke and MK Jabbia won the 200 breaststroke.

Brenau won the 400-yard freestyle relay behind the team of Alisha Hodgetts, Madison Kosater, Kleinschmidt and Hayward.

In Friday’s events, Brenau won the 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay and 400 individual medley. Hodgetts won the 100 butterfly and Dowling took the 100 backstroke. Kleinschmidt placed second in the 200 freestyle and Jabbia was second and Hodgetts fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

Thursday’s winners were Brenau’s 200-yard freestyle and 400 medley relay teams and Hayward in the 500 freestyle. Jabbia was second in the 200 IM.
