High school scoreboard: Lakeview Academy boys, girls win in home showcase

The Lakeview Academy boys and girls basketball teams both won at the Lakeview Invitational on Saturday in Gainesville. Jones Harris scored 13 points and Roman Yaskulka added 12 for the Lions boys in a 66-31 win against Heard County. Conley Millwood finished with 9 points and Declan Weidner scored 8 points with 3 steals for Lakeview Academy. 

The Lady Lions beat Oconee County 53-39. Eliza Snyder finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeview Academy, while Joelle Snyder had 9 points. Maddy Towles finished with 7 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeview Academy (8-4). 

The Dawson County boys beat Tallulah Falls 81-50 in the other game in Gainesville. 

Up next, the Lakeview Academy girls face Chestatee at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the first game of Lanierland, while the Lions boys face Johnson at 2 p.m. Friday to open the tournament at East Hall. 

BUFORD GIRLS 68, GAINESVILLE 25: Tate Walters had 13 points and Sara Viti finished with 10 for the Lady Wolves (12-0) on Saturday at the Buford City Arena. Up next, Buford faces Walnut Grove at 6 p.m. Jan. 3.

The Gainesville girls face Cherokee Bluff to open the Lanierland at 12:30 p.m. Friday at East Hall. 

CHESTATEE GIRLS 41, LEEDS (ALA.) 26: Logan Wiggins finished with 12 points for the Lady War Eagles in the Panama City Beach Bash championship game on Saturday in Panama City Beach, Fla. Maggie McNair scored 10 for Chestatee. 

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 67, EAST HALL 62: Carl Cleveland had a triple-double with 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists for the Leopards on Saturday in Homer. Garrett Pressley finished with 10 points for Banks County (9-1), while Dakota Orr had 9 points and 15 boards. 

For East Hall, Imer Earls scored 15 points and Christian Torres had 14 points. 

Up next, East Hall faces West Hall at 5 p.m. Friday to open the Lanierland. Banks County faces Commerce on Monday.

EAST HALL GIRLS 43, BANKS COUNTY 38: Callie Dale’s 16 points led the way for the Lady Vikings (4-6) on Saturday in Cumming. Alexis Burce finished with 14 points for East Hall. 

Up next, East Hall faces North Hall in the first round of the Lanierland at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Gainesville. 

VIDALIA BOYS 62, FLOWERY BRANCH 51: Trevor Gurske finished with a team-high 16 points for the Falcons and Trey Shaw scored 10 on Saturday in Oakwood.
