Rising North Hall High senior golfer Bartley Forrester closed the Georgia Junior Amateur Championship with a final-round five-under par (67) and earned ninth place overall with a three-day total of 1-over par (217) Wednesday at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro.
The back-to-back Hall County champion racked up six birdies during the final round and finished six shots back of winner Brandon Cho, a 15-year-old from Suwanee.
Forrester started his final round at 7 over par after rounds of 74 and 76 to open play this week. In Round 3, Forrester bogeyed the first hole before making three birdies on each side of the course. His six birdies during the final day matched his total combined of the first day days.
Also on Wednesday, Forrester birdied back-to-back holes, both a par 4, on the back side.
Rising Gainesville High senior Ryan Hogan put together rounds of 73, 74 and 77 to finish in a six-way tie for 35th place at 8-over par (224).
Cho won with rounds of 69, 70 and 72, winning by two strokes over Grant Sutliff, who is also from Suwanee.
On Thursday, Forrester opens play at the Future Masters at the Dothan Country Club in Dothan, Ala.
