Despite a 10-point lead midway through the second half Friday in Carrollton, the North Hall girls lost 62-57 to Carrollton in overtime in the opening round of the Class AAA state tournament.

McKenna Rushton scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, both game highs, for North Hall (15-14), which allowed Carrollton to score 15 points in the fourth quarter to send the game into extra time tied at 51.

Three starters fouled out in the extra period for North Hall, which was the third seed from Region 8-AAA and trailed by as many as nine points in the first half before tieing the score at 28 at intermission.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team,” North Hall coach Kristi House said. “Carrollton is a good team and I thought our girls played hard. It’s a disappointing end to our season, but I’m very happy with the girls’ effort this year.”

Mary Kate Rushton and Sarah Paschal each added eight points for North Hall, whose season is now complete.
