Buford High graduate Austin Upshaw was selected on the final day of the MLB draft Wednesday, going in the 13th round (405th overall) to the Chicago Cubs.
As a senior in high school in 2014, Upshaw hit .449 with seven homers and 47 RBIs for the Wolves.
In 2017 as a junior at Kennesaw State, Upshaw led the Owls with 72 hits and 13 doubles. Upshaw hit .327 this season with eight homers and was selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference team.
In the 21st round, University of North Georgia junior shortstop Connor Hoover was drafted by the Seattle Mariners (633rd overall).
This season, Hoover hit .361 with 18 homers and 74 RBIs and was a second-team Peach Belt All-Conference selection.
Hoover had a team-high with 84 hits for the Nighthawks en route to the Division II National tournament.
