The Lumpkin County High wrestling team has been disqualified from the Class AAA State Team Duals this Friday and Saturday for using an ineligible wrestler.

The Indians, who earned the second seed in Area 7-AAA after finishing runner-up to West Forsyth last weekend, reported the incident to the Georgia High Schools Association after discovering that a wrestler not eligible to compete was accidentally allowed to wrestle in the area duals.

Lumpkin County will be replaced by third-place Gilmer as the No. 2 seed from the area. It will face in Woodward Academy in the first round of the state duals on Friday.

Area champion West Forsyth will continue to wrestle as the area’s No. 1 seed, and open the tournament against LaGrange on Friday.

The State Team Duals begin at 8:15 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday at the Macon CentrePlex.
