Johnson High on Friday selected Duke Mullis as its next girls basketball coach, according to a Hall County Schools news release.

Mullis fills the vacancy left by former Lady Knights coach Tiffany Russell, who resigned following the 2016-17 season, her third year at the position. Mullis has accumulated a 378-235 record across coaching stints with several schools.

“Coach Mullis brings with him a wealth of coaching experience and expertise," Johnson athletic director Jonathan Edwards said in the news release. "His numerous on-court accomplishments speak for themselves, but most importantly he is a man of high character, and that is what makes him such a great fit for us."

The coach's previous stops include Flowery Branch High (2008-2013), Chattahoochee High, West Forsyth High, Banks County High and Middle Georgia College. He now takes over a Johnson program that went winless this past season.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity given to me by (principal) Stan Lewis to serve the Johnson High School community," Mullis said in the news release. "The girls’ basketball program presents a great challenge and I look forward to the challenge."
