A single-engine plane crashed in the Memorial Park Drive area of Gainesville, police said. Memorial Park Drive at Cross Street is closed, and police are asking for drivers to take alternate routes. The Times has staff members headed to the scene.

Juliana Paschall had an 18-point service run with 12 aces for North Hall in wins against East Hall (25-15, 25-20) and Cross Keys (25-12, 25-2) on Tuesday in Atlanta.

Jen Mullican added 15 kills and four blocks for the Lady Trojans, and Kristina Gregory had 31 assists. Makenzie Bryant added 10 digs and three aces.

For East Hall, Tarryn Long recorded 17 kills, 11 digs, six aces, three blocks and an assist in a win against Cross Keys (25-10, 25-13) and the loss to North Hall.

Jessica Chmiel added 12 assists, seven digs, three aces and three kills for the Lady Vikings (16-7, 1-1 Region 7-AAA).

East Hall visits East Jackson for a tri-match with North Oconee on Thursday in Commerce.

BUFORD SWEEPS PAIR: Gabby Curry led Buford with 14 kills and six digs in wins against West Hall (25-11, 25-10) and Decatur (26-24, 25-11) on Tuesday in Buford.

Maggie Roper added 10 kills and 10 digs for the lady Wolves (10-7, 2-0 Region 7-AAA), Bree Horrocks had eight kills, and Myra Sanchez tallied 17 assists. Morgan Mitchell also had 12 assists.

Kelsi Jones led West Hall with 22 kills in a win against Decatur (25-20, 25-16) and the loss to Buford.

Alli Busbee added 19 assists for the Lady Spartans, and Emily Grainger had a nine-point service run with four aces against Decatur. Mia McKenzie also contributed for West Hall (4-8, 1-1 Region 7-AAA).

Buford plays host to Greater Atlanta Christian and Peachtree Ridge on Thursday in Buford, while the Lady Spartans visit North Hall for a tri-match will Blessed Trinity on Tuesday in Gainesville.

LAKEVIEW WINS IN TRI-MATCH: Katie White tallied 17 digs, 13 kills and an ace for the Lady Lions in wins against Rabun County (21-25, 25-14, 25-15) and Habersham Central (25-15, 25-14) on Tuesday in Mount Airy.

Shelby Ross added 10 kills and six aces for Lakeview, Peaches Shipley had eight kills, two aces and two blocks, and Katie Gay recorded eight aces. Delaney Jarrett added 17 assists.

The Lady Lions play host to Hebron Christian and Prince Avenue Christian on Thursday in Gainesville.

Softball

BUFORD 8, WHITE COUNTY 0: Morgan Walters hit a two-run home run off the top of the wall to lead the Lady Wolves on Tuesday in Buford.

Remington Hasty went 1 for 3 with a double and a sacrifice fly for Buford, Niki Cook was 2 for 2 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base, and Baylee Sexton had an RBI and two runs scored in her 2-for-3 performance.

Bria Bush earned her fourth win of the season pitching with nine strikeouts for the Lady Wolves (11-0, 4-0 Region 7-AAA).

Buford visits Dawson County on Thursday in Dawsonville.

JEFFERSON 8, RABUN COUNTY 0: Olivia Husted was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and picked up the win pitching with seven strikeouts over five innings for Jefferson on Tuesday in Tiger.

Savannah Snapp was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Dragons (8-4, 5-1 Region 8-AA), and Raegan Sandy went 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Jefferson plays Jackson County on Saturday at North Gwinnett High in Suwanee.

Cross Country

Dustin Snyder of Lakeview Academy won the boys race at the Chestatee War Eagle Invitational with a time of 17 minutes, 48 seconds on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Lakeview’s Lewis Brooks cam in third at 18:03.

In the girls race, defending Class AA state champion Emma Garrison of Union County won in 21:09, followed by Chestatee’s Maggee Wilson in second at 21:54 and Sara Beth English in third at 21:56.

The War Eagles’ boys and girls teams both took the team titles.
