High school scoreboard: Johnson boys snap losing streak

The Johnson High boys basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 69-61 win against West Forsyth on Friday in Cumming.

With the game tied at 31 at halftime, the Knights (11-10, 3-5 Region 7B-AAA) outplayed the Wolverines in the second half, capped off by a 22-point fourth quarter.

Devaris Finch led Johnson with 29 points. He was 19-for-20 from the free throw line.

Brandon Finch scored 12 points for the Knights. Tre Dudley added 10 points.

Chris Hickman led West Forsyth with 14 points. Lance Baker scored 12 points and Kris Drees added 10 points for the Wolverines.

Johnson plays host to Flowery Branch at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Chestatee boys 75, Creekview 57

Branden Jovaag scored 36 points for the War Eagles on Friday at Chestatee High.

Michael Boisclair added 16 points for Chestatee (10-12, 5-5 Region 7A-AAA).

Hart Ahumada led Creekview with 18 points. Justin Wright added 13 points for the Grizzlies.

Chestatee plays host to Gilmer at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Chestatee girls 46, Creekview 33

Peyton Robertson recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady War Eagles on Friday at Chestatee High.

Chestatee (14-8, 8-2 Region 7A-AAA) outscored Creekview 12-2 in the first quarter.

Chestatee plays host to Gilmer at 6 p.m. Tuesday..000

Gilmer girls 53, North Hall 49

The Lady Trojans stayed within four points the entire game but were unable to upset Class AAA’s fifth-ranked Gilmer on Friday in Ellijay.

Mary Kate Rushton led North Hall (8-15, 3-7 Region 7A-AAA) with 10 points. Sara Jones scored 21 points for Gilmer, which has won 12 straight games.

North Hall plays host to White County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Riverside Military 56, Fannin County 47

The Eagles clinched the top seed in Region 8A-AA with a 56-47 win Tuesday in Gainesville.

Richard Tribble led Riverside (9-6, 7-0 Region 8A-AA) with 14 points. He was 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Brandon McKinney added 12 points for Riverside. Jordan Farmer led Fannin County with 14 points.

Riverside plays host to Rabun County at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lakeview Academy boys 61, Social Circle 47

With a one-point lead at halftime, the Lions outscored Social Circle 18-4 in the third quarter to seal a win Friday in Social Circle.

Daniel Olvera led Lakeview (16-7, 12-2 Region 8-A) with 14 points. Jordan Chastain added 11 points.
Jeffrey Meadows scored 10 points for Social Circle.

Lakeview plays host to Towns County at 7:30 p.m. today.

Social Circle girls 51, Lakeview Academy 42

The Lady Lions’ five-game winning streak was snapped in a region contest Friday in Social Circle.
Maddie Haymore led Lakeview (14-5, 12-2 Region 8-A) with 13 points. Rayana Williams scored 13 points for Social Circle.

Lakeview plays host to Towns County at 6 p.m. today.

Jefferson boys 61, Oglethorpe County 60

The Dragons erased a four-point deficit at the end of the third quarter with a 15-10 run in the fourth to edge Oglethorpe County on Friday in Lexington.

Darius Minor led Jefferson (19-3, 5-0 Region 8B-AA) with 23 points. Duverix Jones scored 17 points for Oglethorpe County.

Jefferson plays host to East Jackson at 7:30 p.m. today.

Jefferson girls 66, Oglethorpe County 22

Jumping out to a 42-7 lead at halftime, the Lady Dragons won their third straight on Friday in Lexington.

Emily Jacobs led Jefferson (9-13, 4-1 Region 8B-AA) with 10 points.

Jefferson plays host to East Jackson at 6 p.m. today.

Lumpkin County boys 51, White County 36

E.J. Young scored 22 points as the Indians picked up their fifth straight subregion win Friday in Dahlonega.

Tyler Dotson led White County with 13 points.

Lumpkin County (13-8, 8-3 Region 7A-AAA) visits Flowery Branch at 7:30 p.m. today. White County (6-15, 4-6 Region 7A-AAA) visits West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. today.

Lumpkin County girls 51, White County 39

Ashley Brown recorded her second straight double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Indians snapped a six-game losing streak Friday in Dahlonega.

Cara Malone added 10 points for Lumpkin County (4-17, 2-9 Region 7A-AAA).

Lumpkin County visits Flowery Branch at 6 p.m. today. White County (3-18, 0-10 Region 7A-AAA) visits West Forsyth at 6 p.m. today.

Buford girls 54, Greater Atlanta Christian 37

Blanche Alverson scored 22 points and Jocelyn Danley added 11 as the Lady Wolves added to their untarnished region record Friday in Norcross.

Chaney Means led Greater Atlanta Christian with 14 points.

Buford (20-1, 11-0 Region 6-AA) plays host to Gainesville at 6 p.m. today.

Dawson County boys 46, Union County 32

A strong second half helped the Tigers pick up a subregion win Friday in Dawsonville.

Seth Stowers led Dawson County (12-10, 3-3 Region 8A-AA) with 15 points. Stephen Scaife added 12 points.

Seth Merritt led Union County with 11 points.

Dawson County plays host to Fannin County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
