Cleveland leads North Hall girls past Chestatee

Freshman Sydney Cleveland led the North Hall girls (15-5, 6-0 Region 8-AAA North) with 14 points in a 59-54 win over Chestatee on Tuesday night. Senior sisters McKenna Rushton and Mary Kate Rushton finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively, for North Hall.

Sophomore Emily Crain led all scorers with 18 points for the Lady War Eagles (12-8, 2-4 Region 8-AAA North). Sam Brown finished with 13 points and Maegan Kenimer added 11 for Chestatee.

North Hall visits Lumpkin County at 7 p.m. Friday in Dahlonega and Chestatee hosts Stephens County at 7 p.m. Friday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 74, CHESTATEE 29: Ebo Smith led the Trojans (17-3, 6-0 Region 8-AAA North) with a game-high 18 points Tuesday night. Freshman Avery Cagle added 11 points for North Hall and senior Preston Smith had 10.

North Hall visits Lumpkin County at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Dahlonega and Chestatee hosts Stephens County at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 64, BANKS COUNTY 58: Gunnar Armstrong led Dawson County (16-4, 3-2 Region 8-AA North) with a team-high 14 points on Tuesday night in Homer. Sophomores Bruce Clark and Jonathan Sanderson finished with 15 and 14 points, respectively, and junior Will Anglin added 11 for the Tigers.

The Leopards were led by Taylor Foster with 14 points and Adam Hiten with 10.

Banks County was leading 32-27 at the end of the first half, but Dawson County came back, outscoring the Leopards 37-26 in the second half.

Dawson County hosts East Hall at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Dawsonville, and Banks County visits Rabun County at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Tiger.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 69, DAWSON COUNTY 57: Sophomore Taylor Kennedy scored a game-high 18 points for the Lady Leopards (14-7, 3-3 Region 8-AA North) Friday night in Homer. Seniors Deasha Beasley and Madison Franklin scored 16 points apiece for Banks County.

Senior Morgan Huber led with a team-high 15 points and junior Carly Gilreath finished with 11 for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Leopards visit Rabun County at 7 p.m. Friday in Tiger and Dawson County hosts East Hall at 7 p.m. Friday in Dawsonville.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN BOYS 47, COLONIAL HILLS CHRISTIAN 38: Trey Collins led the Chargers (13-7, 6-2) with 16 points and seven rebounds Tuesday night in Gainesville. North Georgia Christian’s Dylan Boonstra had 12 points and eight rebounds and Tristan Didpenbrock had 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 37, COLONIAL HILLS CHRISTIAN 21: Nicole Ball led the Lady Chargers (8-2) with 12 points and her twin sister Jordan Ball added 11 on Tuesday night in Gainesville.

North Georgia Christian visits Praise Academy on Monday in Powder Springs.

BUFORD BOYS 55, BLESSED TRINITY 43: The Wolves (14-5, 8-1 Region 6A-AA) were led by juniors A.J. Davis and Kyle Kellam with 14 points apiece Tuesday night in Roswell.

Buford hosts Clarkston at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

BUFORD GIRLS 77, BLESSED TRINITY 28: Kaela Davis led all scorers with 23 points and Andraya Carter added 10 points for the Lady Wolves (13-6, 9-0 Region 6A-AA) Tuesday night in Roswell.

Buford hosts Clarkston at 6 p.m. Friday.

WEST HALL GIRLS 56, LANIER 28: Kaelyn Gattis led the Lady Spartans (8-15, 5-4 Region 8-AAA South) with a game-high 16 points and Maia Booker finished with 10 points and six rebounds Tuesday night in Oakwood.

West Hall hosts Walnut Grove at 7 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 77, SOCIAL CIRCLE 47: Austin Pearson led the Lions (16-3, 10-0 Region 8A-A) with a game-high 25 points and Austin Montgomery added 11 Tuesday night in Social Circle.

The Lions host Athens Christian 8:30 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 60, SOCIAL CIRCLE 24: The Lady Lions (12-6, 7-2 Region 8A-A) were led by Taylor Handte with a game-high 13 points Tuesday night in Social Circle. Senior Mona Abraham scored 11 points and Freshman Katie White finished with 10 for Lakeview Academy.

The Lady Lions host Athens Christian 7 p.m. Friday.

EAST HALL BOYS 88, UNION COUNTY 45: T.D. Teasley led the Vikings (13-5, 5-0 Region 8-AA North) with a team-high 14 points and Caleb Holtzclaw added 11 on Tuesday night in Gainesville.

The Panthers were led by Rhett McCombs with a game-high 17 points, and Zach Odom added 10.

East Hall visits Dawson County at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Dawsonville, and Union County visits Fannin County at 8:30 p.m. in Blue Ridge.

ATHENS ACADEMY BOYS 53, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 39: DYevas Martin led the Eagles (4-7) with a team-high 13 points Tuesday Night in Athens.

Riverside Military hosts George Walton Academy at 6 p.m. Friday.

MONROE AREA BOYS 67, JOHNSON 63: The Knights were led by Montrell McKenzie with 15 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks Tuesday night in Monroe. Johnson’s Matt Hollis added 12 points and A.J. Benefield finished with 11.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 34-20 halftime lead. The Knights outscored Monroe Area 25-15 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to four. But the Hurricanes’ Ken Jackson sealed the game for Monroe Area at the free throw line.

Johnson visits Gainesville at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

JOHNSON GIRLS 57, MONROE AREA 54: Lyndsey Pethel led the Lady Knights with 17 points and 11 rebounds Tuesday night in Monroe. Johnson senior Emily Byers added 13 points and sophomore Bridgette Johnson finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Knights visit Gainesville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Wrestling

East Hall split two matches Tuesday night in Gainesville, defeating Lanier 61-16 and falling to Dawson County 48-30.

Chandler Paden, Robert Williams, Xavier Summers, Felton Wood, Enrique Restrepo, Edward Vergara, Carlos Negron, Tyler Thomas, Kintavious Johnson, Alan Silva, and JD Holloway all recorded wins for the Vikings.

East Hall visits Johnson on Friday to compete in the Hall County Duals at Johnson.
