The Johnson Lady Knights started off their volleyball season by splitting matches with Prince Avenue Christian and Cedar Shoals on Thursday in Bogart.

Kasey Gravitt recorded a pair of aces for Johnson (1-1) in a loss to Prince Avenue 26-19, 25-23.

The Lady Knights bounced back to defeat Cedar Shoals 25-19, 25-14, and Kelly Chance and Cassie McDonald each notched five aces in the win.

Johnson visits Buford for a tri-match with Dacula on Tuesday.

LAKEVIEW SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: Katie White paced the Lady Lions with 14 kills, 11 digs and four aces in wins against West Hall (25-17, 25-15) and Chestatee (25-6, 17-25, 25-23) on Thursday in Gainesville.

Kaylee McClendon added nine kills, two aces and a block for Lakeview Academy, and Bailey Towles had 15 assists and nine aces. Delaney Jarrett added nine assists, Samantha Versteeg had 17 digs and Peaches Shipley had three blocks.

The Lady Lions travel to Athens Academy for a play day on Saturday in Watkinsville.

Softball

EAST HALL 9, WHITE COUNTY 2: Josie Coker hit a three-run home run for East Hall to propel them on Thursday at East Hall Park.

Coker finished with five RBIs for the Lady Vikings, Kali Turner recorded three RBIs, and Erika Lopez hit an RBI single.

Natalie Winters earned the win pitching for East Hall.

The Lady Vikings visit West Hall on Tuesday in Oakwood.

BUFORD 12, WEST HALL 0: Morgan Walters hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to lead the Lady Wolves on Thursday in Buford.

Niki Cook went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and a run scored for Buford (3-0), and Jordan Deep was 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Remington Hasty added a double and an RBI for the Lady Wolves.

Emily Crocker earned the win from the circle for Buford, allowing just one hit and striking out five over four innings.

Buford returns to action in the Hawk-Bulldog Invitational against North Gwinnett at 4 p.m. today in Suwanee.

CHESTATEE 15, CEDAR SHOALS 0: Bridgette Kelly threw a one-hitter to lead the Lady War Eagles on Thursday.

Kari Heard went 2 for 2 for Chestatee (2-2), and Abby Xander and Kayla Watson each recorded two hits.

The Lady War Eagles visit Walnut Grove on Tuesday in Loganville.

TOWNS COUNTY 5, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 4: Ansley Cash led the Lady Lions with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run scored Thursday in Hiawassee.

Leah Anderson added a single and an RBI for Lakeview Academy, which plays host to Towns County on Tuesday in Gainesville.
