Big Red breaks out big bats in 24-4 win

All eleven players who stepped on the field for the Gainesville baseball team Monday at Johnson had at least one hit as the Red Elephants defeated the Knights 24-4.  

Will Maddox went 4-for-4 with eight RBIs and two home runs to lead the Red Elephants at the plate.

Steven Mason went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Sloan Strickland went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a home run, Hunter Anglin went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a home run and Anderson Loggins went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBIs for Gainesville (22-1, 17-0 Region 7B-AAA).

K.J. McAllister went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs while stealing two bases to give him a total of 31 on the season for Gainesville.

Ryan Griffith pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts for the Red Elephants, who play host to Creekview at 7 p.m. Wednesday for the Region 7-AAA championship.

Johnson (10-12, 8-9 Region 7B-AAA) plays host to Gilmer at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday for Senior Night.

LAMBERT 12, FLOWERY BRANCH 2: Corey Sanderson went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead Flowery Branch in a six-inning loss Monday at Lambert.

Flowery Branch (5-19, 5-13 Region 7B-AAA) plays host to Lumpkin County at 5:55 p.m. for its season finale.

LUMPKIN COUNTY 13, PICKENS 3: Jonathan Whitehead had four hits, two home runs and five RBIs to lead Lumpkin County to the win Monday in Jasper.

Chad Fulton added four hits for the Indians (9-15, 8-9 Region 7A-AAA) who travel to Flowery Branch at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

RIVERSIDE 7, EAST JACKSON 6 (FRIDAY):  Brian Cox hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give Riverside the eventual win on Friday in Commerce in game one of a doubleheader.

RIVERSIDE 11, EAST JACKSON 10 (FRIDAY): John Walker hit a three-run home run to lead the Eagles to the doubleheader sweep Friday in Commerce.

Michael Crespo went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs for Riverside which plays host to Rabun County at 5 p.m. today.
