For the first time in school history, Dawson County’s boys and girls golf teams swept the Region 7-AAA championships on Tuesday at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Dawsonville. The Tigers and Lady Tigers advance to the state tournament on May 18.
Madison Caldwell claimed her third straight individual championship with a 77, while East Hall’s Triston Cooper shot a 75 and took the boys individual title after winning a one-hole playoff against Franklin County’s Mason Scott. Cooper advances to the state tournament as an individual qualifier.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 5, COOSA 0: The Eagles advanced to the second round of the Class AA state tournament with a comfortable victory Tuesday. Ryan Dimond won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Sipho Khoza won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Armen Akoyhan won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3 singles. In doubles action, Andrew Eidson and Imanol Pablovich earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot, while Paul Popovich and Russell Bolton won 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at the No. 2 spot.
NORTH HALL BOYS 5, PICKENS 0: The Trojans cruised past the Dragons in the opening round of the Class AAAA state tournament Tuesday. Singles wins came from Jackson Davis (6-1, 6-3), Dalton Patterson (6-3, 6-2) and Reid Lattanzi (6-1, 6-0).
Doubles wins came from the No. 1 team of Matt Booth and Matthew Chewning (6-0, 6-0) and the No. 2 team of Dawson Smith and Daniel Martin (6-2, 6-1). The Trojans (13-4) will face the winner of the Whitewater/St. Pius X match in the second round.

Cesar Salcido had one goal and three assists for Gainesville (12-3, 9-0 Region 8-AAAAA). Omar Perez and Christian Ochoa each tallied a goal and an assist. Arliss Nunez had one goal, and Diego Porras added an assist.
The Red Elephants will host a first-round playoff game on April 29.
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 1, APALACHEE 0: Alyssa Turner scored for the Lady Red Elephants on Tuesday in Gainesville.
Alondra Wedding made eight saves to earn the shutout win.

BUFORD 5, WHITE COUNTY 0: Connor Bennett recorded the complete-game no-hitter with 15 strikeouts, one walk and one hit-by-pitch for Buford on Tuesday.
Griffin Jolliff led the Wolves’ offense with an RBI and two hits. Joey Bart tallied two hits, and Caleb Moore was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Buford is 22-2 and 14-0 in Region 8-AAAA.
JEFFERSON 6, ELBERT COUNTY 4: Jake Franklin was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and earned the save pitching with two strikeouts in the seventh inning for the Dragons on Tuesday.
Micah Carpenter, Christian Hutch, Ethan Garnet, Zack Boobas and Will Breese all had one hit. Carpenter struck out seven to pick up the win from the mound for Jefferson (18-4, 13-3 Region 8-AAA).
The Dragons host Elbert County in a doubleheader on Friday in Jefferson.
