High school scoreboard: Anthony Carrera has HR, 3 doubles for Gainesville in 11-1 win

Anthony Carrera had a solo home run and three doubles for Gainesville in an 11-1 win against Clarke Central on Wednesday at Ivey-Watson Field.

Jared Smith finished the game 3 for 4 for the Red Elephants (8-2, 5-0 Region 8-AAAAA), while Charlie Wall finished 2 for 4 with five RBIs. Also for Gainesville, Fedrick Cardona had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Collier Scott earned the win for the Red Elephants, throwing five innings.

On Friday, Gainesville visits Clarke Central in Athens.

CHESTATEE 15, JOHNSON 2 (5 INNINGS): Mikey Petraroi earned the win for the War Eagles, throwing a complete game with five strikeouts.

He added two singles at the plate.

Also for Chestatee, Austin Sargent had three hits, four RBIs and scored three runs. Joe Sutton had a three-run single for the War Eagles, along with a walk that plated two more runs. Reggie James and Jonathan Yearwood each had a pair of hits for Chestatee, while Will Cantrell and Clay Coffey each doubled.

On Friday, Chestatee hosts Johnson at 5:55 p.m.

NORTH HALL 4, WHITE COUNTY 2: Down by a run in the fifth inning, North Hall’s Drew Atha hit a line-drive single to left field, scoring a pair of runs on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Atha also earned the win pitching in relief.

North Hall’s Taber Mongero connected for three hits, while Jackson Latty finished with two hits, including a solo home run.

Tennis
With a sweep of doubles action, Riverside Military Academy topped Rabun County 3-2 on Wednesday. In doubles, Paul Popovich/Russell Bolton and Josue Calderon/Brayden Lawson won for the Eagles (5-2, 3-0 Region 8-AA).

Riverside Military’s singles victory was by Max Meehok.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 1: Haley Frankum and Ali Waggoner won in singles for the Lady Red Elephants on Wednesday.

In doubles, Gainesville won with Sally Callahan/Madi Kiser and Paige Ackerman/Paige Patterson
For Lakeview Academy, Damira Augustin won in singles play.

Gainesville faces Winder-Barrow today at Longwood Park.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 3, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 2: The Red Elephants picked up doubles win by Roane Thompson/Trevor Munn and Thomas Carter/Max Wuest. Gainesville won at No. 3 singles by default.

For the Lions, Brooks Hylton and Jonathan Kerwin won matches.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 3, WINDER-BARROW 2: Phillip Correa and Tucker Smallwood earned singles wins for the Falcons on Wednesday.
