Kaela Davis scored 21 of points in the first half, and the Lady Wolves cruised to their third-straight appearance in Class AA semifinals on with a 67-28 win over Rabun County on Friday night in Dalton.

“Kaela did a great job of attacking the rim,” said Buford coach Gene Durden, whose team plays the winner of the Laney/Morgan County game at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Macon Centreplex. “She’s capable of scoring 20 points in a hurry.”

Davis proved that in the first quarter, as she made a trio of 3-pointers to spark a 14-0 run for the third-ranked Lady Wolves (27-3). With an 11-point lead, Buford’s defense took over in the second quarter, holding the Lady Wildcats (27-4) to four points on 1-of-10 shooting to take a commanding 38-16 lead at intermission.

“I was real pleased with how we came out,” Durden said. “We started fast, and we needed to because Rabun County has good shooters and we couldn’t let them get hot.”

Those shooters never had a chance to get open, and by midway through the third quarter the Lady Wolves had a 32-point lead.

Sheresse Williams scored 14 points and Andraya Carter added 13 for Buford, which beat Rabun County for the third straight year in the quarterfinals. The Lady Wolves are trying to win their third straight Class AA title.
