Georgia Tech junior Tyaunna Marshall was selected to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Conference First Team, conference commissioner John Swofford announced Monday. Marshall was selected to the first team by both the league’s coaches and the ACC’s Blue Ribbon Panel, which consists of media and school representatives.

Marshall is just the fourth Jacket to earn All-ACC First Team accolades. As a freshman in 2011, Marshall was named to the All-ACC Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team. Last season, she was selected to the All-ACC Second Team.
Marshall finished the regular season ranked second in the ACC in scoring with 17.9 points per game, sixth in rebounding with 8.3 rebounds per game and fourth in steals with 2.5 steals per game. She was the only player in the conference to rank in the top 10 in all three statistical categories.

Marshall’s 37-point outburst in a comeback win over Miami on Feb. 24 was the highest point total in a game by an ACC player this year. She finished the regular season with eight double-doubles, nine games with at least 20 points and scored double-digit points in 27 of 29 games. Marshall was selected as ACC Player of the Week three times.

She has climbed from outside Tech’s all-time top-25 scorers to eighth with 1,498 career points. Her 520 points this season are the second most by a Yellow Jacket junior.

Tech will face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the first round of the 2013 ACC Tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
