Gainesville High names Griffin new girls basketball coach
Current White County athletic director to take over for Brenda Hill-Gilmore

Gainesville High has found its next girls basketball coach.

The school announced that Alan Griffin Jr., current White County High athletic director and former coach at St. Anne Pacelli Catholic School in Columbus, will take over the Lady Red Elephants program after approval by the Gainesville City School Board on Monday.

Griffin Jr. coached at St. Anne Pacelli for eight seasons (2008-2016), leading the boys program to a state quarterfinal appearance in 2016. At White County, Griffin Jr. was named the 2017 Region 7-4A Athletic Director of the Year and served as the school’s assistant principal.

He takes over for Brenda Hill-Gilmore, who after seven seasons stepped down in April to take the same position at Monroe Area High. Prior to the team’s 8-18 mark in 2017-18, Gilmore led the Lady Red Elephants to multiple state quarterfinal appearances since 2011.
