Local golf: Chattahoochee Men's Association played Independence Day scramble

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played an Independence Day themed scramble format game on Thursday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Players alternated between red, white and blue tees over the 18 holes.

The team of Joe Kolesar, Bob Watson and Jim Hesser finished in first place. Larry Cohan, Don Wells, A.J. Kiker and Bill Collier came in second, and Buzz Hansen, Jim Hollobaugh, Jim Van Dyke and Rolf Legbandt were third.

The team of Paul Payne, Warren Jahn, Bill Gardner and Wayne Nelson finished in fourth place, and Gene Weschler, Bob Pyne, Gary Palmer and Claude Schneider were fifth. Closest to the pin winners were Bill Sutton (No. 3), Cohan (No. 5), Weschler (No. 12), and Roy Lyle (No. 17).

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a best ball, net team event on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. The team of Martha Shell and Norma Remmlinger finished in first place. The team of Sue Cronmiller and Riki Von Stroud and the team of Ann Hollobaugh and Pam Cohan tied for second place. Closest to the pin winners were Shell (No. 3), and Remmlinger (No. 17).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

On Monday, Steve Knowles and Bob Kidd tied for first place, Dave Jetter finished in second place, and Horace Smallwood came in third. Knowles finished in first place again on Wednesday, Dwight Miller came in second, and Charley Kilby and Dennis Jones tied for third place. On Friday, Bill Ingram finished in first place, Bill Chambers and Bob Kidd tied for second, and Doug Padgett and Fred Gaunca tied for third.
