Wood leads Brenau golf squad to win at Phoenix Invitational
Lumpkin County grad carded 3-under par in second round

Brenau University senior Morgan Wood, a Lumpkin County High graduate, carded a second-round 3-under par (69) and was second individually (144) at the Phoenix Invitational Tuesday at the Windtree Golf Club in Mount Juliet, Tenn. The Golden Tigers placed four golfers in the top 10 indivually to win with a combined two-day total of 610.

Wood posted a blistering 5-under par 31 during the front nine during the second round to set the stage for her splendid outing.

“She’s really showed out this week,” Brenau coach Damon Stancil said. “She’s seizing these last opportunities to shine as she nears the end of a superb college career.”

Also for Brenau, Megan Reddick finished sixth (153), Ashley Omidi placed seventh (154) and Sara Jane Bowers was eighth (159).

On April 24, Brenau takes to the course for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships at the Arrowhead Country Club in Montgomery, Ala.
