Despite a game-high 24 points for Lady Saint and Gainesville grad Jaymee Carnes, the North Georgia College & State University women’s basketball team dropped its third game in a row Saturday afternoon, falling 74-61 to Lenoir-Rhyne University to open the Loch Shop Classic at Clayton State University in Morrow.
North Georgia (1-4) went 25 of 78 from the field while Lenoir-Rhyne went 31 of 63, including 5 of 12 from three-point range, helping to lift the Bears to the victory. The Saints only managed to shoot 5 for 23 from beyond the three-point arc.
Carnes also just missed out on a double-double as she corralled nine rebounds. Carnes went 10-27 from the field and added two assists and one block.
Stephanie Huffman finished with 11 points and eight rebounds for North Georgia.
Jordan Hiatt led the way for the Bears with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Brittany Christian added 11 points of her own.
North Georgia will take on Chowan University at 1:30 p.m. today.
