Jordan Guida and Jake Stone combined to drive in seven runs as Tennessee Wesleyan College defeated Young Harris College 12-5 on Tuesday at Jack Bowling Field.
The Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, improved to 37-11, while the Mountain Lions had their six-game winning streak snapped and fell to 35-11. The two teams will face each other at 5 p.m. today at Zell B. Miller Field in Young Harris.
Young Harris jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Jack Morrow and Zach Bricknell each had RBI singles. Tennessee Wesleyan tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first and then broke the game open with a five-run third inning.
Guida and Travis Burnside collected two-run hits against Young Harris starter Cody Beck (4-1).
The Mountain Lions scored twice in the fifth to pull within three runs at 7-4. Bricknell drove in his second run with a run-scoring single to center and Young Harris pushed across another run on the play on a fielding error by the center fielder.
