College scoreboard: UNG baseball team upsets No. 17 West Georgia in extra innings
North Georgia

Cade Heil drove in two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead the University of North Georgia baseball team to a 14-13 upset against No. 17 University of West Georgia on Wednesday at Bob Stein Stadium in Dahlonega. 

Andres Perez and Heil had home runs for North Georgia (12-12, 5-7 Peach Belt Conference). Perez also drove in three runs for the night.

North Georgia visits Augusta University at 6 p.m. Friday in Augusta.

Softball

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH GEORGIA WINS DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST FRANCIS MARION: The University of North Georgia won the first game 4-0 and the second 8-0 on Wednesday at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium in Dahlonega. 

Brittany Gilliam drove in two runs in Game 1 for the Nighthawks (34-1, 6-0 Peach Belt Conference), while teammate Shelby Hammontree added an RBI. Kylee Smith was the winning pitcher in the opener, recording 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

In Game 2, Kaylyn Anthony and Gilliam had two RBIs apiece for North Georgia. Amber Johns earned the win for the Nighthawks, throwing four strikeouts in five innings.

North Georgia hosts Augusta at 1 p.m. Saturday in Dahlonega.
