Motorists may notice the left turn lane on McEver Road at Browns Bridge Road has been extended, easing backups for northbound McEver traffic.

Northbound McEver Road motorists are getting some traffic relief at Browns Bridge Road/Ga.  369 in Gainesville.

The left-turn lane on McEver has been extended to 675 feet from 300 feet by the Georgia Department of Transportation. The project helps with left-turn movements but also should help traffic flow more smoothly in McEver’s two through lanes at the intersection.

“The project had been delayed with all the rain, but work was finally completed over the weekend,” DOT district spokeswoman Katie Strickland said Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The work was done by C&S Paving of Marietta for $114,000 as a DOT “quick response project,” meaning it addresses a much-needed traffic improvement and can be done quickly and for less than $200,000.
