The Times earned eight awards Saturday at The Associated Press Media Editors’ annual banquet in Atlanta. In the yearly contest involving all Georgia newspapers and broadcasters, The Times is grouped with the state’s largest dailies, including those in Atlanta, Macon, Savannah, Columbus and Augusta. Times reporter Joshua Silavent earned first-place honors in beat reporting for his government, political and social needs stories.
