The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board has recommended approval of an annexation and rezoning request that will allow for the development of a 219-lot upscale subdivision off Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville, near the shores of Lake Lanier. Planning board member Dexter Stanley cast the lone dissent. City Council will vote on whether to approve the development, dubbed Ahaluna Estates, when it meets Nov. 4.But residents in the area who will be affected have vowed to continue their fight against the development as it’s currently proposed.
