A Flowery Branch man was charged with snatching a purse at a Gainesville gas station, according to police.

Seon Jones III, 22, was charged with robbery by sudden snatching.

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Gainesville Police responded to a robbery report at the Athens Highway Citgo.

“During the incident the suspect grabbed a female’s purse, and then fled the area,” Gainesville Police Cpl. Jessica Van wrote in a news release.

Leads developed by the department pointed officers to an apartment on Lenox Park Place.

“During the course of the investigation, an unknown male subject fled the residence by jumping from a third-story balcony,” Van wrote. “Investigators retrieved items from the robbery at that location and took the suspect, Seon Jones III, into custody without incident.”

Jones was not the jumper, Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.

Jones was booked Tuesday in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.
