No foul play in death of woman found by fisherman
Lake Lanier

Investigators discovered no evidence of foul play on a woman’s body found last week in Lake Lanier.

A fisherman found the body of Shannon Sancho, 30, of Atlanta, at the shore near the entrance to Lake Lanier Islands in South Hall, according to authorities.

The 911 call came at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, from a man who was fishing.

“The fisherman discovered the body of an adult female in the water at the shore,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in a news release. “During the preliminary investigation, Sheriff’s Office investigators tentatively identified the woman and determined that her vehicle remained in the parking area near where the body was found.”

Booth said Friday, Jan. 25, no evidence was found of foul play

“A preliminary autopsy report found no signs of trauma and indicated the victim drowned,” Booth wrote in an email.
